Our volunteers provide invaluable support to our patients, their families, and to our hospice program. Help is needed working with patients and families as well as non-patient-related activities, such as fundraising/event planning, spiritual care support, community presentations, or respite care and patient companionship.
Volunteer positions at Stoneleigh Residence include working with patients and families. There are also opportunities to help with non-patient care such as lawn and garden care, light housekeeping, maintenance and other duties.
Patient/caregiver volunteers may provide companionship, caregiver relief and other duties in a patient’s home, nursing home facility or Stoneleigh Residence.
Many members of our community volunteer their expertise in providing additional support for our families (barbers, beauticians, lawyers, financial planners, Reiki).
Sit with patients who are actively dying alone to provide respite for families or companionship to a patient who doesn’t have family in the area.
This type of volunteering is a unique way to educate our communities about benefits of hospice care as well as serve the needs of our agency. We are always in need of enthusiastic spokespersons to promote the hospice philosophy in our community on behalf of Hospice of Lansing & Stoneleigh Residence.
Volunteer training will prepare you to volunteer for Hospice of Lansing & Stoneleigh Residence. It will help you understand the hospice philosophy, end of life issues and how to work with community members facing terminal illnesses. All new volunteers need to complete the home-study in its entirety prior to volunteering.
