Did you know that there are more than ten different hospices in this area? Of those ten, there are only three non-profits; Sparrow Hospice, McLaren Hospice and Hospice of Lansing. Hospice of Lansing developed in 1979 and is the original non-profit Hospice serving the mid-Michigan Area. Created originally as a volunteer organization with “people helping people” after the 8-5 p.m. working hours and developed into a non-profit to serve. Because we are not associated with a specific hospital, Hospice of Lansing is completely community-based. We are FROM our community and FOR our community.
In 1984, Hospice of Lansing acquired our sister hospice, Ionia Area Hospice. Both organizations have a patient and family-centered focus. This has been and continues to be, our priority for over 37 years later. As one of the three non-profits in the mid-Michigan area, Hospice of Lansing is the only certified, independent nonprofit specializing solely in end-of-life care and with a freestanding, licensed hospice inpatient facility, Stoneleigh Residence.
